About me

Hello, and congratulations on your upcoming celebration! My name is Kat Lenton (or Kathryn if you prefer it formal), my pronouns are she / her / hers, and I am thrilled to be considered as your celebrant. I’m a 40-something year old Commonwealth registered Authorised Marriage Celebrant, and live in nipaluna / Hobart.

I hail from Queensland originally but fell in love with lutruwita / Tasmania (how could you not?) and moved here permanently in 2019. I have university degrees in both Social Work and Counselling – perfect for supporting those pre-ceremony jitters or other complexities. I’m a natural storyteller, calm under pressure, a confident public speaker, and sometimes I’m funny. In case you were wondering, I’m fully up to date with all my vaccinations (including Covid vaccines).

What’s most important to me is understanding and connection. I want to take the time to really get what you’re looking for in a celebrant and your ceremony. This means that I’ll ask lots of questions and take the time to get to know you and your circumstances. Making people feel calm and safe is my superpower.

I love to travel and will happily be contacted to discuss ceremonies outside of Hobart (including interstate travel!). Travel fees may apply if the ceremony is more than 50km outside of Hobart CBD.

Whether you are eloping, having a small wedding, a lavish ceremony, renewing your vows, or having a naming ceremony (for both children who are being welcomed into their family, and bigger people who are affirming their gender) – I’d love to be your person to celebrate with you, and to help you through the process.

Like your ceremony, the pricing will depend on your ceremony style. To make things super transparent, here’s the pricing information for you to consider. All prices include the use of my PA system if it’s needed, and the total cost is inclusive of the booking fee.

Registry wedding

This is the basics – you, your love, two witnesses and the legalities. (Need witnesses? Just ask me, I can arrange!) Short, sweet and simple.

Elopement wedding

Maybe it’ll be short and sweet, maybe you’ll say some lovely things to each other. You might have a handful of your important people there, or witnesses. This ceremony is about the two of you and keeping it simple.

Bespoke wedding

This is the full package – the love birds, your nearest and dearest and then some. A bespoke ceremony to honour and celebrate your unique story together.

Naming ceremony

Maybe you’re welcoming a little human into the world or maybe you’re celebrating your gender affirming care. Either way, let’s create a ceremony that celebrates and honours what’s important in life. Ceremonies for the little people might be about welcoming, promising and cherishing a life to be well lived. For the bigger people, maybe it’s about honouring integrity, acceptance and self-love. Either way, this ceremony will acknowledge the values and celebration that is right for you.

Please note to secure the date of your ceremony, a non-refundable booking fee of $300 is required at the time of booking. The final price is inclusive of the booking fee.
Full payment for the ceremony is required at least 30 days prior to the scheduled ceremony, but everyone loves an early payment! We can talk about a payment plan if that would be of interest. Unfortunately, if full payment is not received 30 days prior to your ceremony date, your booking may be forfeited.
